• Select “Password Security” as the security method from the drop-down list. In the Permissions

section of the Password Security Settings dialog, verify the box labelled “Enable text access for

screen reader devices for the visually impaired” is checked. This is the default setting for Adobe

Acrobat 9 and Adobe Reader 9 (See “Figure 13 Password Security Settings” on page18)

Certain applications allow you to set the security settings for PDF files you plan to generate from within the

application (See “Creating Accessible PDF Files Using Authoring Applications” on page 53).
